With the summer around the corner, and Gateway class 6 months away, I decided I would take advantage of the time and earn some extra cash for our training days in September. With only being able to work for six months, I was only looking for seasonal work. Several jobs looked appealing, so I spent a good part of the day filling out some applications. For one particar job I decided to attach my resume and drop it off at the employer. When I walked inside the main office I was greeted by a office support specialist. I told her I wanted to explain my application and why I only wanted seasonal work. I told her about Mercy Ships and that I was going to training in September. She asked me, " Are you really going to Africa?". I replied "Yes". The office specialist invited my back to her office where she told me she had extra money set aside for these types of things, and reached down in her purse and pulled out $20.00 and handed it to me, and said, " May God Bless you, and multipy this by 5,10, 20 times." I thanked her for her generosity and continued to tell her about the Mercy Ships organization. With a smile on her face she listened to me...I could see joy in her heart.
